Snowdonia Marathon

Snowdonia Marathon - Saturday October 27th 2007

By Sarah (http://www.justgiving.com/moniqueandsarah) - now closed although you can still donate direct to The Prostate Cancer Charity

The 25th Anniversary of the Snowdonia marathon had a record turn-out and what a marvellous event I was just in awe of the surroundings and despite some awfull weather the route was as hard as predicted. The first 4 miles up to Pen-Y-Pas were tough but the incredible downhill and far reaching views more than made up for it.,Sadly the weather closed in and what should have been the most scenic marathon I have ever run was now under very heavy mist and rain. Miles 12 to 21 were certainly undulating but then the turn at Waunfaur and THE HILL. Possibly having such low cloud cover helped in that I couldnt see the top but this was an amazing climb ,at mile 24 I had the best tasting cup of tea I've ever had then it was downhill with LLanberis and the finish in sight. This was enough of a boost to get going and rounding the last corner and spotting Penelope and Annabelle was the incentive to get to the finish.

Although I could be heard saying never again once over the finish line, on reflection I know I shall definately be back - a top Marathon.
